24 Hour Film Festival

So as some of you may know, and most of you dont, last week we participated in the Orlando 24 hour film festival.

Today was the award ceremony and screenings.

After a few hours of sitting on the edge of our seats and muscles tight head to toe, Team Becca (our team) pulled out Best Cinematography and Best FIlm.

We were ecstatic to say the least. We still cannot believe we won the $1000 grand prize.

check out our film here at FilmCrush we are number 22.

Let me know what you think.

also here is an article about the festival. I dont think the writer of this article really understood our film. maybe you guys are a little smarter! :)

golden hour

Sunday afternoon i was driving home from my weekend get away in St. Augustine. The sun was beginning to go down and everything started to look better. I whipped out my phone and began shooting things i thought looked cool as i drove. This was fun because it helped pass the time of the solitary car ride, it was dangerous because my eyes were constantly jumping from the phone to the road and back again.

I pulled into orlando and made it home with enough sun in the sky to get a few more shots.

Luckily Somer and Mandy Sloan were at our house so I quickly went to my room to grab my canon and asked mandy if she would like to take a few pictures on the roof real quick.

Here are a few that turned out. Im quite happy with them and once again my passion for photography was rekindled!

Hopefully i will be shooting a lot more and will post more stuff as time goes.

Wow. That list is short. Holy crap. I'm very excited to be done here. I'm excited about learning more as I get out in the industry. I've realized that knowledge is infinite and I won't be done learning when I graduate from Full Sail. I can't wait to see what's in store for my near future.

35mm

He's a photo from the shoot yesterday. It went pretty well and it was lots of fun shooting 35mm film. (for those who don't know 35mm is the standard for real motion pictures and it's pretty expensive so it was great shooting on it)

Critical Mass

Today i finally made it out to critical mass in orlando. Ive been meaning to go for months now but just havnt gotten my butt nor my bike out there.

It was quite the experience i have to say. There were so many people. so many bikers around. more than ive ever seen in orlando before.

its pretty cool to see all the people out from all around the city raising awareness that there are other means of transportation.

heres a pic i snapped while riding.

Editors Choice

It was the first project that have really written and directed.

I posted this on a few places since its conception including exposureroom.com

I was notified by a friend and fellow exposure room user that my video had gotten chosen for the editors choice. This means that they people who maintain the website liked my video and put it on the front page.

This is pretty exciting for me because i am up on the front for everyone to see, right next to Philip Bloom, which is an amazing cinematographer. Check his work out here. its beautiful.

I donno. its exciting for me. check it out here

Second mobile attempt

So I had ally written out on this new mobile app I got that was supposed to help me to blog more.

Then my phone froze. Stupid app.

I lost everything I was going to say about how this blog originated as a way to keep in contact with friends. And how it no longer serves that perpose because no one blogs.

And that I was going to use this blog for myself. So I could see what I was doing.

So thanks stupid app for erasing my feelings.

ITS A WRAP!!

Today marks the completion of my first debut as a director.

It is a short written and directed by yours truely about a man remembering his untamed childhood imagination.

It has been a stressful, time consuming, wild ride but it has been good.

The first night of shooting went awesome. We basically had everything we had hoped/planned on and it went like butter. The footage turned out pretty nice too i think.

The second shoot was a little rockier but having improvised the entire second that of shooting the day of shooting, id say it turned out alright.

And today, the third and final day of the short time we had to shoot was STRESSFUL. All day from the moment i woke up i had been stressing like crazy. Are we gonna have all the props we need? are the people gonna turn up? will it come out decent enough to put my name on?

After some disappointment with rain, and not having a suitable backup plan i was through the roof. Then after getting hope by a larger soundstage opening up for us, a little hope was restored.

But then the weather cleared up.. a little!!

We scraped the soundstage idea and went back to plan B which was to shoot in the woods behind the backlot.

After 30 minutes of setting up the lighting was too bad and we had to go inside to plan A, which was actually plan B. We continued to set up and shoot inside. After about an hour of increasingly stressful situations we began to shoot.

I think we got everything we needed to shoot, given the circumstances.

Now i just have to edit and hope for the best!

Here are a few stills from the footage.

Keep posted for the full thing coming to a computer screen near you!
